Everything in your EHCP case file
The case file is a case management system for your side of the EHCP process. It remembers your dates, computes every legal deadline with the regulation cited, tells you the next move, and gives you the letter to send when the council slips. Here is each piece, and what it does for you.
The deadline ledger
Every statutory deadline in your case, computed from your dates: the 6 week assessment decision, the 20 week final plan, the 15 day draft window, annual reviews, phase transfer dates, mediation and appeal windows, and Tribunal compliance orders. Each row shows its due date, its exact regulation, and a live status: on track, act soon, breached, or done on time. The engine behind it is a 30 row table of time limits from the SEND Regulations 2014, verified against the legislation, including which clocks can lawfully pause and which never can. See how it fits together.
Your next move
A case file that just lists dates still leaves you doing the thinking. Above your ledger sits one box with the single most useful action today. A window you could lose, like the 2 month appeal deadline, outranks chasing the council. A breached council duty comes with what to do about it and the matching letter, one click away. Nothing due? It says so, and tells you the next date coming.
Stage-matched letters
The three letters that move cases: challenging a refusal to assess, the 20 week breach complaint, and the draft plan response. Solicitor-grade structure with the regulation cited in the letter itself, because councils respond differently when a parent quotes reg 13(2). The case file links the right letter to the right breach; auto-filling them with your names and dates is being built with the founding cohort now.
Reminder emails before every deadline
Seven days before a deadline and again the day before, the case file emails you. No checking a website on the off chance. This is rolling out to founding members first.
Contact log and chronology
Every call, email and letter with the council, logged with a date and a note. When you need to escalate, to the Ombudsman or the Tribunal, one click turns it into a numbered chronology: the document every adviser asks for and no parent has ready. Being built with the founding cohort now.
Plan wording checks
Draft plans arrive full of wording that sounds fine and commits the council to nothing: "access to", "opportunities for", "regular support". The wording checker reads your draft against a rulebook of case-law backed checks and flags every weak phrase, with the words to ask for instead. The free check shows your first three flags; founding members see everything, with the requests ready to copy into a response letter.
